Bára Gísladóttir is an Icelandic composer and double bassist studying at The Royal Danish Academy of Music under the guidance of Jeppe Just and Niels Rosing-Schow. Previously she studied with Hróðmar I. Sigurbjörnsson at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and Gabriele Manca at the Milan Conservatory. Her music has been performed by ensembles such as Duo Harpverk, Mimitabu and Vertixe ensemble. Bára is an active performer and frequently performs her own music. She has also performed with Skark Ensemble, S.L.Á.T.U.R. and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, as well as being a member of the Hamrahlíð Choir and bassist in the Balkan band Orphic Oxtra. Bára was the 1st bass of the Iceland Youth Symphony Orchestra before moving abroad for further composition studies. In January 2015 Bára founded the pop-up ensemble Náttey whom she has performed with regularly since.
