Bernhard Philipp Eder was born and raised in Vienna, Austria and studied composition from 2005 till 2013 with Martin Lichtfuss, Reinhard Karger, and Michael Jarrell at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna – also studying orchestration with Ertugrul Sevsay – and graduated there as a Magister artium (Master of Arts) in January 2013. He also studies orchestral conducting there since 2009 with Uros Lajovic and Simeon Pironkoff and attended masterclasses with Bertrand de Billy, Fabio Luisi, Johannes Wildner and Naoki Sugiyama. In 2006 he won the 1st prize of the “Salieri Today” international composing competition. In June 2014 he was invited and participated as guest composer at the ensemble mise-en new music festival in New York City, USA. Bernhard also frequently works as a freelance arranger and orchestrator for such prominent arts organisations as Hollywood in Vienna, Prague Philharmonics (recently for their “Sound of Hollywood” concert tour May 2014), Max Steiner Orchestra, GK-Filmorchestra and exil arte.
