D. Turner Matthews is a composer, instrument builder, and performer. His compositions include instruments of his own invention such as the Turner Winch, the bell plate marimba, and chromatically tuned propane tank tongue drums. Turner’s performance trio, Triangulus, has presented these instruments at conferences and universities across the mid-West and recently released an album of experimental electronic rock music entitled “Rotten.” Turner’s work with invented instruments and electronics earned him a commission to write a concerto for Triangulus and the Ohio University Wind Symphony, which will premier on March 24th. Turner holds a BM from Ohio University and is currently earning a MA in Music composition from Rutgers University.
