Ian A. Cook is an award-winning composer who writes for many kinds of ensembles, including solo, chamber ensemble, choir, and orchestra. His musical language is often melodically driven and blends traditional and newer styles. Ian was chosen for the 2013 VocalEssence Essentially Choral program in Minneapolis, MN and the 2013 Aries Composers Festival in Fort Collins, CO, and has had premieres and performances across the Midwest. Ian graduated from St. Olaf College in Minnesota in 2012 where he studied Music Theory and Composition, Instrumental Music Education, and Educational Studies under teachers such as Justin Merritt, Christopher Aspaas, Steven Amundson, and Timothy Mahr. Ian is also an active vocalist and trombonist.
