Jaco Wong (b.1992) is a Master’s student in Choral Music and Composition at the USC Thornton School of Music, studying composition with Ted Hearne and conducting with Nick Strimple. He graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Music Composition degree, where he studied with respected composers, Brian Belet and Pablo Furman. Being raised in Hong Kong, the composer is bicultural, hoping to incorporate Eastern and Western aspects in his music. Jaco frequently collaborates with modern dancers, animators, poets, and other artists. Jaco is the winner of the Allen Strange Memorial Composition Contest 2014 and the receiver of Morten Lauridsen Endowed Composition Scholarship. His pieces have been performed by the San Jose Chamber Orchestra, the SJSU Choraliers, Duo Equilibrium, and many others. Jaco is also an active performer, serving as a staff singer for Long Beach Camerata Singers and as an intern staff singer for Santa Clarita Master Chorale. Jaco was the music director of all-men acapella group, Pitch Please, and is the current assistant conductor at USC Caruso Catholic Center.
