Rae Howell

Rae HowellRae Howell ~ aka Sunwrae ~ is an Australian composer and multi-instrumentalist specialising in piano. She has a Bachelor of Music from The University of Melbourne Conservatorium in Australia and a Master of Music from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Howell is Artistic Director of the Sunwrae Ensemble and as a sought after composer and performer, she works in collaboration with artists from all over the globe, performing across a diverse range of genres in theatre, film, dance and concert hall projects. Her fellowships include Musician in Residence at The Banff Centre in Canada, Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida USA, Instituto Sacatar in Brazil (a UNESCO Aschberg Bursary), The Visby International Centre for Composers in Sweden, ECCO International in The Gambia, West Africa, La Sonora in Argentina and the Edward Said National Conservatorium of Music in Palestine. Howell has released many albums with her ensemble Sunwrae, who are no strangers to the stage, having performed in excess of 200 concerts since their 2001 inception, premiering more than 50 of her original works.
