Robert Rankin is a composer who grew up in Raleigh, NC and now lives in Greensboro. His compositions combine his early love of the Great American Songbook and musical theatre with the music of American Minimalism and modern orchestral music. Robert’s music has been commissioned and performed by various music festivals, ensembles, and solo artists, most notably, the Apex High School Wind Ensemble, Burning Coal Theater Company, the itch ensemble, Mount. Rushmore Summer Music Camp, the violinist Maitreyi Muralidharan, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro University Band. In 2012, Robert was a fellow at the Brevard Music Center where he studied with composers Robert Aldridge, David Dzubay, and Dana Howell.
